our Process

Step 1

First, we buy our raw materials. Mainly logs that we purchase by the ton on our state certified scales. We also buy kiln dried lumber along with several other pallet components.

Step 2

We sort the logs according to size to determine which mill they will go to. Larger diameter portions of the logs are cut to a desired length and then sent to one of our two hurdle sawmills. Smaller diameter logs are sent to our Big Jake scragg mill.

Step 3

3. The logs are then debarked. This is a necessary step in order to make any byproducts more desirable for the customer. The bark is peeled off of the log and then ran through a hammer mill. Once it is screened through the hammer mill it is transformed into an excellent mulch product.

Step 4

Next, the logs enter a whole tree merchandiser that cuts the logs into workable lengths for the scragg mill. These log lengths will be a maximum of 60 inches and are now referred to as bolts. The bolts are kicked onto a chain deck upon exiting the whole tree.

Step 4

Step 5

From there the chain deck carries the bolt onto the scragg mill where they are ran through two sets of saw blades that mill the bolts into a four sided cant. Upon exiting the scragg mill the cants are trimmed to a precise length.

Step 5

Step 6

After the cant is trimmed it is conveyed to the West Plains multiple head Resaw. Here each cant is milled into deck boards or stringers. The boards or stringers then exit the Resaw via roll case.

Step 6

Step 7

The roll case then sends the material through a de-dusting machine. The fine dust is removed with a series of plastic brushes. Then each component is ejected out the back to a stacking machine.

Step 7

Step 8

Once the material is stacked it is banded and sent to the dip tank to be treated for mold prevention.

Step 9

Throughout the milling process all of the scrap material goes into a vibrating conveyor that feeds our Precision residual wood chipper. The chips are screened for size and then conveyed and loaded onto a truck to go out for delivery.

Step 9

Step 10

Finally the material is ready to move to the Viking nailing machines for assembly. If specified by the customers the pallets are stenciled during assembly. After assembly the new pallets are either loaded into a dry kiln for pallets that will be exported.
