Heat treating is a process that is used to eliminate the presence of pests in the lumber that is used to build pallets. The heat treating process is required for pallets that are going to be exported outside of the United States. The pallets are loaded into a dry kiln. The pallets are then heated up until the internal temperature of the wood reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit and remains that way for thirty minutes. Each heat treatment process is recorded in a report by a computer program that ensures that the treatment was done according to the IPPC and ISPM standards. After the process is complete each pallet is HT stenciled with an IPPC issued stamp. The stamp includes the IPPC’s wheat symbol, a number that represents the country of origin (XX), the facility code (000), and the inspecting agency (YY). We have our facilities and processes inspected monthly by The Missouri Forest Products Association.
In our heat treatment process, pallets are loaded into our specially designed dry kilns, built by kiln-direct. The kilns are heated until the internal temperature of the wood reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and this temperature is maintained for a minimum of thirty minutes. This precise process is carefully monitored and recorded by a computer program to ensure compliance with IPPC and ISPM standards. After treatment, each pallet is stamped with an IPPC-issued mark, including the wheat symbol, country of origin code, facility code, and inspecting agency code, providing traceability and compliance assurance.
To uphold our commitment to compliance and quality, our facilities and processes undergo monthly inspections by The Missouri Forest Products Association. These regular inspections ensure that our heat treatment process continues to meet the highest standards set by the industry and regulatory bodies. Our dedication to excellence in heat treatment not only guarantees pest-free pallets but also demonstrates our unwavering commitment to delivering safe, high-quality products to our customers worldwide.
