Mold is a constant and serious issue that haunts the wooden pallet industry. Many customers in the food processing industry have major concerns with stacking their products on moldy pallets. Each species of lumber contains a different moisture content, which means that some species may be more susceptible to mold. No matter the species all lumber will mold in the right environment if the lumber is not treated to prevent mold. Storing pallets in humid dry vans and warehouses where the temperatures are not regulated creates the perfect environment for mold to grow on wooden pallets.
