CHEMICAL TREATMENTS
THARP PALLET COMPANY

We recently invested in an Eagle dip tank that has twin hoists. Once the lumber has been graded and stacked it is banded and taken to the dip tank. The twin hoists allow us to treat two packages of lumber each time. Once the forklift operator has placed the lumber in the hoists the treatment process can begin. The hoist then lowers the lumber in to a vat until it is completely submerged. After the lumber is soaked for a preset amount of time the hoist will lift the lumber back out of the vat. The vat contains the Nexgen, Nex-brite, and X-lance. The Nexgen prevents mold from growing on the lumber for certain number of weeks. Once the lumber has been assembled and is in pallet form the moisture content of the wood will dry out, lowering the moisture content. If the pallets are kept dry, the moisture content will be low enough after several days that mold will not grow on the pallets. The Nex-brite works with the Nexgen to give the wood a clean and bright appearance. The X-lance is a pesticide that keeps any unwanted insects off of the lumber.
